Unlocking change

Runnymede Trust

Runnymede Trust is the UK’s leading independent race equality think tank. They work to advance racial justice by providing evidence and research into racial inequalities, influencing policymakers and the wider public, and working collaboratively with others to more effectively bring about change.

Runnymede Trust is led by an ethnically diverse team and has strong connections to grassroots organisations and communities, making it a trusted and vital voice for people affected by issues related to racial inequity. It also means it is well-placed to improve understanding of racial inequity and their widespread effects amongst policymakers and the public, as well as inform the change needed for racial justice.

This strength of their approach is demonstrated by the prominent role they played in exposing to a range of issues including the Windrush scandal, the disproportionate impact of COVID on people experiencing racial inequity, and highlighting the link between systemic racism the environmental emergency.

Priorities
Long-term outcomes
  • Disproportionate harm caused by racial injustice in systems, policy and practice is reduced.

Runnymede Trust identifies barriers to a racially just society, and by engaging with decision makers, policy makers, practitioners and citizens aims to build a Britain in which all citizens and communities feels valued and enjoy equal opportunities. It is a core contributor to our work tackling racial justice as well as supporting our broader strategy commitments to contribute to an anti-racist society.
