Esmée Fairbairn Foundation welcomes new Chair

We are delighted to welcome Beatrice Hollond as the new Chair of our Trustee Board. Beatrice takes over from Sir Jonathan Phillips who has been Chair since 2019.

A Trustee at Esmée since 2008, Beatrice Hollond sits on a number of boards in the corporate and voluntary sectors. Bea is Chair of F&C Investment Trust, which aims to bring the benefits of creative and responsible investing to a wider audience, and is on the Board of Directors at Brown Advisory, an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm committed to thoughtful investing with a strong focus on sustainability.

Bea has chaired our own Investment Committee since 2013, and overseen our transition towards responsible investing.

I am delighted to become Chair of Esmée. We have a lot to do in these very challenging times and I am very lucky to have an excellent Trustee Board and great executive team. I’m looking forward to working alongside them and the brilliant organisations Esmée supports in contributing to improving our natural world, securing a fairer future, and strengthening the bonds in communities in the UK.

Beatrice Hollond

Bea replaces Sir Jonathan Phillips who steps down after serving three years, and leading Esmée through a strategic review and our response to COVID. We’re incredibly grateful to Jonathan for his guidance and leadership throughout. Sir Jonathan will continue as a Trustee of the Foundation.

It has been an immense privilege to chair the Foundation during a time of significant strategic change and the COVID challenge.

Sir Jonathan Phillips
