We are looking for a consultant with strong experience in climate justice, the ability to bring creative ideas and challenge our thinking, and excellent communication and facilitation skills. The consultant should have a strong understanding of the intersections between climate change, environmental issues, and social justice, and be able to identify and engage a diverse range of voices and perspectives.
Deadline for submissions: 10:00, Monday 23 March 2026.
Background
Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is committed to addressing the causes and impacts of climate change across all our work and are a founding signatory to the Funder Commitment on Climate Change.
We want to develop a webinar series to deepen our understanding of climate justice and its connection to our social justice, community, and nature priorities. We expect that the learning generated will be valuable not only for Esmée staff and trustees, but also for organisations we fund, other funders, and wider audiences. For this reason, we are interested in exploring an open and accessible approach to the series.
What the work will involve
The consultant will help scope a series of up to six webinars on climate justice. The work will include:
- Identifying likely audiences, including Esmée staff and trustees, funded organisations, and other funders.
- Recommending themes for the webinar series, exploring intersections of climate, environment, social justice, and community-led change.
- Suggesting potential speakers and partner organisations, prioritising underrepresented and lived-experience voices.
- Proposing accessible and inclusive formats for delivery.
- Producing a short plan as a first-stage output, including themes, suggested speakers and organisations, curation and format recommendations, and guidance on accessibility and inclusion.
Timetable
The first phase of work is expected to take approximately six days, starting in April 2026.
This may lead to a second phase of work, supporting the Esmée team to organise the webinar series and brief speakers.
Please note that Esmée will cover additional costs such as webinar hosting (we currently use Zoom) and speaker fees.
Experience we’re looking for
- Demonstrable experience in climate justice
- Strong understanding of the intersections between climate, environment, and social justice
- Ability to challenge our thinking and bring creative ideas to this work
- Excellent communication and facilitation skill
If you have been involved in any work funded by Esmée, please let us know so that we can consider how any conflicts of interest might be managed.
