Tips for applying for Funding Plus
- Be clear about your need: Briefly explain what support you need, who will provide it, what it will cost, and what you hope to get out of it.
- Choose a provider before applying: It is helpful to write a brief and start speaking to providers before applying. This process allows you to review and define needs, develop realistic budgets, and allocate resources effectively, ensuring your organisation is committed to the work and ready to start.
- Applications should include a proposal or email from your provider detailing the scope of the work, day rates, number of days, deliverables, and total cost.
- If using multiple providers or applying for a combination of support types e.g. consultancy, facilitation, training, an away day etc. please combine proposals, descriptions and costs into one document to upload.
- Although we do not have a preferred supplier list, we may be able to pass on details for providers that have been recommended by other organisations we fund.
- It is not necessary to run a tender process to find a Funding Plus provider to work with, or tell us about your procurement process (although we may ask about it!).
- A budget line can be included for staff time to engage on short-term projects or training, but funding should primarily support external consultants, trainers, or facilitators.
- Use guidance if helpful: An example tender brief, budget, and tender preparation guides are available below.
- Plan your time carefully: Development projects often take twice as long as expected; consider your capacity to engage with the support alongside core activities.
- Get help if needed: If you’re unsure about eligibility, need help in finding a provider, or have access needs, please contact shemain@esmeefairbairn.org.uk. Introductions to organisations with similar experience can also be arranged.
