Professor David Hill CBE

David is chairman and founding owner of The Environment Bank Ltd which he set up in 2006 to introduce the concept of compensation, via biodiversity offsetting, net gain and habitat banking, into the UK. He co-founded The NatureSpace Partnership Ltd, was a founding member of Natural England and Deputy Chair 2011- 2016. Previously Board member of the UK Government’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee, and Ecosystem Markets Taskforce. He is currently Chair of the Northern Upland Nature Partnership and Chair of Plantlife. He is a key advocate for the development of environmental markets and has a farm in Nidderdale and Swaledale that are both dedicated to nature conservation. Trustee since 2017 and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.
