Unlocking change

The Music Works

The Music Works

The Music Works is a youth-led charity working to transform young lives through music. Based in Gloucestershire, they are specialists in working with young people in challenging circumstances to help them reach their full potential in music, learning and in life.

The Music Works offers a far reaching and inclusive programme supporting young people from first access through to early progression, and talent and career development. Young people are at the heart of The Music Works’ governance. A youth advisory group meets regularly to help shape the charity’s programmes, activities and strategy.

They also aim to effect wider change in the lives of the young people they work with and enable them to influence city and county arts policy to increase inclusivity. They do this by engaging and working with a range of partners including the Local Enterprise Partnership, health services, schools and youth justice organisations in Gloucestershire.

Music should be a route for all young people, and it was really tough for me and others like me at the time [of growing up]. The Music Works’ Hub is a game-changer for all the local, undiscovered artists that will now thrive in this space - it will empower them to pursue careers in all areas of music”
