On behalf of everyone at Esmée Fairbairn Foundation it is with very great sadness that we have to announce the death of James Hughes-Hallett who had been our Chair since 2013 and a Trustee for fourteen years.

James had great love for and commitment to the Foundation and its values, a commitment which shone through during his lengthy illness. Trustees and staff greatly enjoyed his leadership, observing his quiet wisdom, his warmth, accessibility, humour and resilience. He was a friend and colleague who will be greatly missed.
At this time our thoughts are with his family to all of whom we offer our deepest condolences.
