Communications about our funding

Multi-Story Music

We're keen to work together on promoting the work we support. This page contains guidance on communications about our funding, as well as what to do if you'd like us to highlight your work in Esmée's communications.

Communications about your Esmée funding

Acknowledging our funding

Our funding should be acknowledged in any communications you produce about the work which Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is directly supporting, and appropriately elsewhere, for example in annual reports or brochures or if you have a funders' page on your website.

Announcing the funding

Please don’t publicly announce or publicise the funding until you have formally accepted the offer terms and conditions and have provided us with your Bacs details and supporting bank statement as requested in the offer letter.

We will publish your grant to 360Giving when the grant offer has been accepted, unless you let us know otherwise. We publish social investments when terms have been agreed.

All funding will be listed in our Annual Report. We may also mention our support for your organisation on our website, social media or other publicity material.

Press releases

If you want to acknowledge our funding in a press release or any other type of media coverage, please send a copy of the draft press release before publication to Luna Dizon, Communications Manager: communications@esmeefairbairn.org.uk.

You may use these standard paragraphs about the Foundation in the Notes to Editors:

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation aims to improve our natural world, secure a fairer future and strengthen the bonds in communities in the UK. We unlock change by contributing everything we can alongside people and organisations with brilliant ideas who share our goals.

The Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-makers in the UK. In 2023, we provided £58.4m in funding towards a wide range of work in support of our aims. This includes additional funding to organisations we fund in response to the rising cost of living. We also have a £45 million allocation to social investments for organisations with the aim of creating social impact.

Using the Esmée logo

You may use our logo appropriately in communications about work we are directly supporting, but please check with us first before using it in a promotional capacity.

TIFF, JPEG and PNG files

The PNG, TIFF and JPEG versions are for use on something you are producing yourself in Microsoft Word or can be used online on your website. Please do not enlarge them as the image will distort.

EPS files

The two logos in EPS format are suitable for printed materials as they can be increased to any size. Do not try to open them, just import them into the relevant document. The first version is colour and the second is black and white.

Photos of work we support

We keep a library of images from the organisations we fund to use in our Annual Report, website and other materials and we’d love some photos of your work we have funded.  These might be photos you already have in your library - or ones that you might be taking over the coming months.

When looking for pictures try to find images that capture the story of the project, work in progress or end product. We find it’s better to have people actually doing, making or acting out the project rather than a staged photograph.  It is preferable to receive electronic images as either JPEG, PNG or TIFF format and ideally these should be 1500 pixels in width or bigger (the file should be no less than 2 to 3MB in size).  Please include credit information if required and confirmation that you are happy for us to use the photograph/s. Where children are featured we require confirmation that you have written parental permission to use the photos.

Publications

If the work we have funded involves a publication please keep your Funding Manager informed of the launch date. We sometimes link to publications on our website and would like to share it in our social media.
