Open Data

In July 2015 we signed up to the 360Giving initiative, which aims to help UK grantmakers to publish their data in an open and standard format online. In 2016 we funded 360Giving to develop GrantNav - a search tool which enables everyone to search, explore and download UK grant data from every funder publishing open data to the 360Giving Standard.

We have published our data online in our own searchable database since 2012, and always include a full list of our funding in our Annual Reports. By publishing our data in an open format here on our website and through 360Giving, we hope it can be shared and compared more easily. 360Giving is a developing project and we think the data it collates can form the basis of new tools that everyone - those seeking funding as well as those looking to make grants and investments - can use to understand and improve giving in the UK.

This means the data is freely accessible to anyone to be used and shared as they wish. The data must be attributed to Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

We believe that with better information, funders can be more effective and strategic decision-makers. 360Giving provides support for funders to publish their grants data openly, to understand their data, and to use the data to create online tools that make grant-making more effective.
