This report, published by the Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR) on 1 October 2012, outlines findings from the first year of ‘Recession Watch’, a two-year research project led by IVAR and working with six foundations: Comic Relief; the Cripplegate Foundation; The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund; Henry Smith Charity; The Tudor Trust and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

The report outlines findings from interviews with 59 small - medium sized voluntary organisations funded by these foundations. It explores the current operating environment of grant holders; the kinds of support that organisations require at the moment; and, finally, the role that trusts and foundations might play in supporting voluntary organisations and, by extension, their beneficiaries.
