Logo and communications

We would be grateful for an acknowledgement of the grant in any communications you produce about the work which Esmée  Fairbairn is directly supporting, and acknowledged appropriately elsewhere, for example in annual reports or brochures or if you have a funders page on your website.

Announcing your Grant

Please don’t publicly announce or publicise the grant until you have formally accepted the grant offer terms and conditions and provided us with your Bacs details and supporting bank statement as requested in the grant offer letter.

We usually announce grants on our website and via twitter two weeks after they have been approved. If you would prefer us not to announce the grant then please let us know within two weeks of receiving the offer letter.

We add grants in more detail to our searchable database of grants on our website on a quarterly basis and the grant will also be listed in our Annual Report. We may also mention our support for your organisation in our publicity material.

Press releases

If you want to acknowledge the grant in a press release or any other type of media coverage, please send a copy of the draft press release before publication to Laura Lines, Grants & Communications Officer laura.lines@esmeefairbairn.org.uk

You may use these standard paragraphs about the Foundation in the Notes to Editors:

“Esmée Fairbairn Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities throughout the UK both now and in the future. We do this by funding the charitable work of organisations with the ideas and ability to achieve positive change.

The Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-makers in the UK.  We make grants of £30 - £35 million annually towards a wide range of work within the arts, children and young people, the environment and social change. We also operate a £26 million Finance Fund which invests in organisations that aim to deliver both a financial return and a social benefit.

You may use our logo appropriately in communications about work we are directly supporting, but please check with us first before using it in a promotional capacity.

The two logos in EPS format are suitable for printed materials as they can be increased to any size. Do not try to open them, just import them into the relevant document. The first version is colour and the second is black and white.

The TIFF and JPEG versions are for use on something you are producing yourself in Microsoft Word. Do not enlarge them as the image will distort.

We keep a library of images from our grantees to use in our Annual Report, website and other materials and we’d love some photos of your work we have funded.  These might be photos you already have in your library - or ones that you might be taking over the coming months.

When looking for pictures try to find images that capture the story of the project, work in progress or end product. We find it’s better to have people actually doing, making or acting out the project rather than a staged photograph.  It is preferable to receive electronic images as either jpeg or Tif format and ideally these should be A5 or bigger (the file should be no less than 2–3mb in size).  Please include credit information if required and confirmation that you are happy for us to use the photograph/s. Where children are featured we require confirmation that you have written parental permission to use the photos.

If your grant involves a publication that we have funded please keep your Grants Manager informed of the launch date. We sometimes link to publications on our website.
